What are plug in air purifiers?

The name says it all. These are air purifiers that you plug into the wall.

They’re mostly powered by household current, but some are 12V and are best suited for use in cars and RV’s. These purifiers are great because they’re portable, powerful, and don’t require permanent installation.

Other purifiers that you’ll see discussed on our site include whole house purifiers that are installed by professionals. While these technically “plug in” to your home’s power system both the wiring and mechanical components are fixed. They require significant work to install and remove.

The third major type of purifier that competes with plug in units are perhaps the most common. These are the square filters that you’ll find in your local hardware store. They filter the air in a central air HVAC system. These fall into neither the plug in purifier nor the whole house purifier category. They are merely a component in a larger system.

Why do plug in purifiers appeal to consumers?

Clean air that is free from chemicals, viruses, particles and allergens is a huge benefit these days. Plug in purifiers provide the widest variety of shoppers with an effective method of air purification. These purifiers range in price, size, and appearance. If you want to get rid of pollutants in the air there’s certainly a plugin unit that suits your needs.

In North America most portable, plug-in air purifiers come with a standard 110 Volt plug . However, if you live or are travelling outside the United States you might need to buy an adapter. Or make sure that your purifier has the correct plug for your region.
